Baldracca’s neighborhood was famous for crime and prostitution, even if situated in the heart of the city. Cosimo Medici decided to demolish it and to build government offices (uffizi) .The building became a venue for the display of art in 1574, when Cosimo's son Francesco I transformed the top floor into a place "to walk in with paintings, sculptures and other precious things."
Though it also holds a collection of Classical sculpture, the Uffizi is mainly a museum of old masters’ painting, especially Italian like Piero della Francesca, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti ...
After the Uffizi tour will get a break so you can explore the city by yourself and most important: to avoid the high temperatures, we don't want to walk in the sun.
At 18:15 we start the visit of the city Medieval city center that includes the Duomo and the other side of the Old Bridge, the Oltrarno area for a total of 11 point of interest stops.
