The best way to discover Florence is wandering along its narrow streets, famous squares and lovely churches. Our tour will start from the real center of Florence, founded by Romans in 59 BC, Piazza della Repubblica, nowadays the symbol of the “rebirth” of the city during the 19th century. Our guided walk will let you unveil a jewel church, Orsanmichele, a Gothic masterpiece which symbolizes the power of the Florentine guilds (merchants, wool makers, and many others) from Middle Ages until the 18th century.
We will continue with Piazza della Signoria and its imposing Palazzo Vecchio, the seat of government, and his high tower; the square hosts important monuments, such as the Neptune's Fountain, the Loggia dei Lanzi, an open air museum with masterpieces by Benvenuto Cellini and Giambologna, together with Roman sculptures. Our walking tour will reach Santa Croce Church, considered the Florentine Pantheon, thanks to the funerary monuments of artists like Michelangelo and Galileo, and return to the Uffizi Gallery courtyard.
Last but not least, we will follow the Arno river towards Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, with jewelry shops and many secrets...
