The Trevi Fountain is Italy’s largest and most famous fountain as well as one of the most stunning fountains in the world.
The fountain, designed by Nicola Salvi and completed in 1762, is situated at the junction of three roads, which gives the fountain its name – The Trevi fountain, translated as The Three Street Fountain.
It was built with the same material as the Colosseum – the travertine stone, standing at a massive 85 feet and 65 feet wide. The fountain designs include Neptune, the god of the sea, from whose mouth water flows from, and also a statue of the goddess of abundance. The famous fountain has also been featured in several films including Roman Holiday, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and Three Coins in the Fountain. Â
